The halberd only can be powerstanced with other halberds and the dualbladed swords and its moveset is crap when It has the Pike's (longest spear) moveset (charging running R1s anyone?) with 80 more points of base damage with the scaling emphasizing DEX. If you just want to slap something silly with a big stick, forget about it, as you won't need very much DEX unless you're using some of the Ultra Greatswords or DLC weapons, but if you're using a DEX build Pate's Spear can probably last you the whole game. Pate spear is a high raw dmg one, on a heavier side.
